I have always loved dogs.

Unfortunately, loving dogs and being able to have one are not always the same thing.

Life gets complicated. Some people have busy schedules. Others live in places where keeping pets is difficult. And sometimes, as much as your heart says yes, you know you are not quite ready for the responsibility that comes with caring for another life every single day.

For a long time, I thought that meant I simply had to admire dogs from afar.

Then I spent an hour at World of Paws.

Of course, I expected the puppies to be adorable. That much was obvious.

What I did not expect was how quickly they made everything else disappear.

Within minutes, I found myself laughing at their little personalities. One pup insisted on following people around. Another happily settled down next to whoever gave the best scratches. There were moments when everyone in the room would suddenly burst into laughter because one of the dogs had decided to do something wonderfully silly.

And somehow, without realizing it, I stopped thinking about everything I had been worrying about before I arrived.

No emails.

No deadlines.

No endless list of things waiting for me at home.

Just an hour spent with creatures that seemed perfectly happy simply being themselves.

I think that is what stayed with me the most.

Not the photos I took or the novelty of visiting a puppy cafe, but the reminder that joy does not always have to be permanent to be meaningful.

Sometimes, happiness can be borrowed.

Sometimes, you only need sixty minutes.

An hour of laughter.

An hour of affection.

An hour of having a fluffy little stranger decide that your lap is the perfect place for a nap.

And honestly, that was enough.

I left feeling lighter than when I came in.

Not because all my problems disappeared, but because I had been reminded that there are still simple things in life capable of making you smile.

Maybe that is why I think places like World of Paws matter.

Not everyone can own a dog.

But for an hour, you can experience the warmth, affection, and uncomplicated joy that dogs seem to give so freely.

And sometimes, that little bit of borrowed happiness is exactly what you need.

Since my visit, World of Paws has moved to a new home. I hope their new space brings the same joy and wagging tails to even more people looking for a little borrowed happiness.
