My Excuse to Visit More Cafes
I think writing cafe reviews has given me the perfect excuse to visit more cafes than I normally would.
I’m not the biggest coffee expert. That title probably belongs to Ash Lee, who can talk about coffee in a way that makes me realize how much I still have to learn. And I’m certainly not as methodical as Chloe Chang when it comes to putting together cafe lists.
I’m somewhere in between.
I go because I love being in cafes.
I love the feeling of walking into a new space, finding a seat, looking around, and ordering something I haven’t tried before. Sometimes it’s a coffee I know nothing about. Sometimes it’s just a drink that looks interesting. Either way, there’s something exciting about not knowing exactly what the experience will be like.
Writing reviews gives me a reason to pay attention to those little things: the atmosphere, the way the coffee tastes, how the space makes me feel, and whether I can imagine coming back even when I’m not there for work.
I think that’s also who I write for.
Not everyone who loves cafes is a coffee expert. Some of us simply love the experience of being there.
So if you’re someone like me, who enjoys discovering new spaces, trying different coffees, and occasionally finding an excuse to spend an afternoon in a cafe, you’ll probably understand why I enjoy being part of The Best Cafe Singapore.
Every review is technically work.
But honestly, it still feels like a pretty good excuse to order another coffee.
