Why I’m Taking a Break From Best Of Lists
I’ve decided to take a little break from writing new Best Of lists.
Not because I’ve run out of cafes to visit. I actually have the opposite problem.
I’ve been thinking more about the lists I’ve already created and whether I’m still confident in every recommendation on them.
Cafes change. Menus change, coffee quality changes, spaces get updated, and sometimes a place simply doesn’t feel the same after a few months.
That’s why I want to spend more time revisiting the cafes I’ve already written about.
My collection of Best Of lists brings together the different lists I’ve created, while my main Best Cafes in Singapore list is the one I want to keep especially close attention to.
I don’t want my recommendations to be based on a single visit from months ago. I want to go back, check the coffee, look at the current menu, and see if the experience still matches what I originally wrote.
For now, that means fewer new lists and more revisits.
I’d rather have recommendations I can continue to stand behind than simply keep adding more names.
Sometimes, good curation means knowing when to stop looking for something new and start checking what you already have.
